Jack Thorne, one of the creators of the hit Netflix series “Adolescence,” explained in an interview that there is an answer to the mystery at the end of the show.

In an interview with Deadline, Jack Thorne, co-creator of “Adolescence,” revealed that there is a definitive answer to the final mystery of the successful Netflix miniseries.

The plot of “Adolescence” revolves around the imprisonment of Jamie, a boy accused of stabbing a schoolmate to death.

Jack Thorne explained why they chose not to show the murder weapon.

“For example, in episode two, the big question arises: where is the knife? That’s why detective DI Luke Bascombe (Ashley Walters) is there. But we can’t answer that. We don’t answer that,” he said.

He said he preferred to keep the information hidden from viewers. “There’s real pleasure in the way the series was constructed. It was written in a very partial way; we couldn’t cover everything,” said the creator of “Adolescence.”

Thorne also explained that showing those solutions would feel artificial.

“The audience understands the pacing of the narrative. They already expect certain outcomes because they’ve been watching dramas like this for years. But the uncut format allows us to challenge those expectations in a different way.”

“Adolescence” premiered on Netflix on March 13 and quickly captured viewers’ attention, becoming the most-watched series on the platform with 24.3 million views in its first four days.
